Underwater Unmanned Riverine Craft (UURC) — biomimetic series

Underwater Drones (UUV/ROV/AUV)

Description

A series of biomimetic underwater unmanned riverine craft (UURC) developed by NextGen Aeronautics under SBIR work for DARPA and ONR. The vehicles use undulating fins (cuttlefish-like) for propulsion, producing acoustically and optically low-observable operation and advanced maneuverability (e.g., flat turns without lateral movement). Three vehicle variants were built with dry weights ranging from ~15 to ~90 lb (approx. 6.8 to 40.8 kg). Primary intent: covert riverine/reconnaissance and research applications where air coverage is insufficient.
