Description

ADAPT™ is an advanced flight control software package designed to achieve revolutionary improvements in safety/survivability, performance, and affordability for US military aircraft, with future transfer to commercial rotorcraft. It exploits inherent redundancy in VTOL platforms and modified legacy rotorcraft to automatically allocate control commands between effectors. The system responds to aircraft damage or optimizes control configurations for increased performance, maneuverability, reduced vibration/fatigue loads, or weighted combinations of these attributes. It consists of three main components: Damage Tolerant Control (DTC) for continued safe flight in degraded modes, Fly to Optimal (FTO) for maximizing aircraft performance based on selected objectives, and Vehicle Maneuvering Optimization (VMO) for optimizing control effector settings during maneuvering flight.
