Expendable Airlift Glider Expeditionary Logistics System (EAGELS)
Description
EAGELS is a low-cost, unmanned glider aircraft developed under a DARPA SBIR Phase II program for delivering high volumes of supplies to distributed ground units. It uses a detachable motor that separates at altitude and returns to launch point via parafoil, while the glider continues to deliver payloads into contested areas. The system aims to provide logistics support at significantly lower cost than manned helicopters, with applications for DoD, DHS, FEMA, and Department of Agriculture missions including civil, humanitarian, and disaster relief operations.
